Underrepresented Writers Program
Grant-Funded Scholarships
The Lexington Writer's Room Underrepresented Writers Program is an initiative that supports writers with financial need who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and/or as individuals with disabilities, by providing a Lexington Writer's Room monthly membership at no cost.
Our goal is to empower voices that are too often overlooked. This program creates opportunities for those who have been excluded from traditional literary spaces. We encourage all writers to create and share their stories, challenge perceptions, and foster understanding.
This program is made possible by a generous grant from LexArts. The grant currently covers the full membership cost for four writers. Scholarships are awarded on a quarterly basis with the option to renew.
To apply for one of the Underrepresented Writers Program Scholarships, please fill out the Google Form below. Our scholarship committee periodically reviews applications and grants scholarships as soon as they become available. We hope to expand the program and offer even more scholarships in the future with additional grant funding!
