Member Writer Fiona Young-Brown: Monsters and Movies

It's been a month of monsters for Fiona whose article about the legendary Beast of Gevaudan appeared in a recent issue of France magazine. What was the strange wolf-life creature that terrorized mountain farmers for several years?

In other monster news, she and her husband have just published the second volume of their B-Movie Cookbook, combining kitschy movies of the 1960s with themed menus. From Teri...Excepting a few upcoming pieces for The Washington Post, I’m focusing this summer solely on my book about stepfamilies. I have the bad first draft and am now working on the first full revision, which I hope to finish by the end of August. I was fortunate to be awarded the Daisy Pettles Residency for June — $1,000 and a month alone in a beautiful, 100 year old, Indiana house — to do the work without the normal distractions of daily life. A real gift.
