Gwenda Bond thought it had been a slow spring until we asked her for news. Earlier this year, she announced a new two-book deal with St. Martin's Griffin. Her fantasy romantic comedy duology NOT YOUR AVERAGE HOT GUY and THE DATE FROM HELL--partly set in Lexington and partly set in, you guessed it, Hell--will be published in 2021 and 2022.

She also co-created the #Creators4Comics and Independent Bookstores campaign with fellow writers Kami Garcia and Sam Humphries (assisted by Phil Jimenez and Brian Michael Bendis) to aid comic shops and indie bookstores hit hard by COVID-19. The C4C charity auction raised more than $433,000 for the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC) in five days, funds that are going directly to aid stores and their employees. You can still donate.

And, last but not least, Gwenda was recently invited to the Wild Cards Consortium, the long-running, author-owned shared universe project. Created in 1986 and edited by George R.R. Martin ever since, she also joins LWR member (and her husband) Christopher Rowe as a part of the Wild Cards gang.

You've got so much cool stuff going on, Gwenda!

It's been a month of monsters for Fiona whose article about the legendary Beast of Gevaudan appeared in a recent issue of France magazine. What was the strange wolf-life creature that terrorized mountain farmers for several years?

In other monster news, she and her husband have just published the second volume of their B-Movie Cookbook, combining kitschy movies of the 1960s with themed menus. This is the sequel to Volume 1 (2017) which explored movies from the 1950s. Check out Fiona's Amazon Author Page to find these and her other books.
